Emergency Management
City of Platte Woods Residents,
The City of Platte Woods is undertaking advance operational planning in response to projected financial shortfalls in the upcoming fiscal periods, including anticipated revenue constraints and rising mandated costs.
As part of this planning effort, and to ensure continuity of essential public safety services, the city will implement a temporary operational adjustment beginning December 15, 2025, under which police response services will be provided by the Platte County Sheriff’s Department.
All emergency, criminal, and life-threatening situations will continue to be handled through 911.
This adjustment is temporary and forward-looking. A public hearing will be held in early January to receive resident input before any long-term decisions are considered. The Board of Aldermen will review options during January and February, with a final determination and public announcement to follow.
The City remains committed to responsible financial stewardship, uninterrupted essential services, and transparent communication with residents as future budget conditions are addressed.
For additional information, residents may contact any Alderman or the City Clerk at cityclerk@cityofplattewoods.org.
Respectfully,
Mayor and Council
